Wow...I don't even know where to start. But I'll try. It made me genuinely, stupidly happy (I ear-to-ear smiled my way through half the movie).
It's 100% alive, honest, visceral and absolutely wonderful. It builds, grows, expands before you and inside you until you feel like you're not only empathizing with the characters, but that you're actually in their world with them (or, sometimes, that you are them in a somewhat heartbreaking way).
It's funny, sexy, romantic, joyous, hopeful (and heart-wrenching and heart-warming), exuberant and impeccably cast — Joseph Gordon-Levitt commands the screen with a raw, sexy, vulnerably strong cuteness and Zooey Deschanel is great as a woman to fall in love with, hate, fall in love with, hate and so on.
Probably the best thing about (500) Days of Summer, though, is that it made me feel completely alive afterward — tingling, brimming with desire and possibility.
Go see it.
It sounds great. Thanks for the tip! <3 AA
